A United Airlines flight from Washington DC to Salt Lake City diverted to Omaha after a passenger declared the trip a simulation and disrupted the cabin.
Court records say Jordan Robert Langston, a 25 year old, walked to the front mid flight, told passengers "This is a simulation," and repeated the claim to crew.
He stepped on an attendant foot, pushed another person, and ignored warnings the plane could return to Washington, according to investigators.
FBI Special Agent Patrick Manion wrote that Langston later rose again, shadow boxed in the aisle, and punched a crew member in the face.
Passengers restrained him with plastic handcuffs, while he ranted about death, prompting the captain to divert and land in Omaha before continuing to Utah.
A judge ordered Langston held in jail pending trial, citing concerns about mental health and possible substance abuse after the Sunday incident.
