Baby raccoon in Colorado, discovered snoring inside a semi truck’s engine, forced an Arapahoe County officer to Google “how do you remove raccoons” and “what to do if animal in engine.” Officer reported, “The baby raccoon was sleeping... and wasn’t exactly happy about being woken up.”

That disgruntled raccoon, plucked from a truck’s mechanical maze, was released back into the wild, adding to Arapahoe’s 100+ animal incidents since June 21. Trending queries like “how do you get raccoons out of cars” and “animal control weirdest calls” suddenly feel less hypothetical—imagine a nap interrupted by a catch pole, not coffee.

In just one month, Arapahoe County officers have wrangled over 100 creatures—including foxes, snakes, and a single engine-napping raccoon, who now holds the county’s loudest wake-up record.
