In Elkhart County, Indiana, three Jayco RV employees—John Lipscomb, 44; Travis McKay, 29; and Arlin Hochstetler, 31—are charged with two felony counts each for allegedly placing live cats into a trash compactor. Lipscomb reportedly admitted to taping two cats inside a microwave box, which McKay and Hochstetler then placed into the compactor.

The incident, occurring on February 27, 2025, was reportedly an attempt to address a stray cat issue at the facility. McKay allegedly stated that animal shelters were full, prompting their actions. Hochstetler expressed a desire to eliminate the nuisance without causing suffering. Jayco's Vice President of Operations, Devon Miller, indicated the men believed they were acting in the company's best interest.

Jayco has since terminated the employees, emphasizing that they do not condone such actions and are implementing measures to educate staff on appropriate procedures and company expectations.
