Police in Morristown, Tennessee are searching for a monkey after it damaged a local business Sunday morning. Officers were called to the Trade Center on South Cumberland Street around 8 a.m.
The Morristown Police Department said the animal was a Cinnamon Capuchin monkey. It caused damage inside the business, including harm to several musical instruments.
Officers contacted animal control to help capture the monkey. Authorities said those efforts were unsuccessful and the animal escaped.
Capuchin monkeys are small, agile primates known for strong hands and problem solving skills. They are not native to Tennessee and are typically kept as exotic pets.
Police did not say how the monkey got loose or who owns it. For now, Morristown has an unusual suspect on the run, one with fingers and questionable taste in instruments.
