The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued a reminder that Costco membership cards do not meet REAL ID requirements for air travel. Starting May 7, 2025, travelers aged 18 and over must present a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another acceptable form of identification, such as a U.S. passport, to board domestic flights.

Despite the approaching deadline, some passengers have attempted to use non-compliant IDs like Costco cards at airport security checkpoints. The TSA emphasizes that such forms of identification are unacceptable and may result in denied boarding or additional screening procedures.

REAL ID-compliant licenses typically feature a star in the upper corner, indicating adherence to federal security standards.
