In Yellowstone's Old Faithful area, a 30-year-old man from Randolph, New Jersey, was gored by a bison after approaching too closely, sustaining minor injuries. This incident underscores the dangers of ignoring park regulations, which mandate staying at least 25 yards away from bison.

This marks the second bison goring in Yellowstone this spring; a 47-year-old Florida man was similarly injured on May 7 near Lake Village. Bison, capable of running up to 35 mph, have injured more visitors than any other animal in the park.

Standing up to 6 feet tall and weighing as much as 2,000 pounds, bison are North America's largest land animals, yet some tourists seem to mistake them for oversized, grumpy cows.
