Police say a naked man robbed BJ’s Meat Market in Lake City, Florida, shortly before 9 p.m. ET last Tuesday.
Employees told officers the suspect was nude except for a face mask and held cloth wrapped around what looked like a weapon. More than $1,000 was taken from a cash box.
The suspect was identified as Kobe Watkins, a 24 year old from Florida. Surveillance video and discarded clothing helped officers locate and arrest him nearby.
Watkins was charged with robbery with a weapon, grand theft, criminal mischief and exposure of sexual organs. After a medical evaluation, he was booked into the Columbia County Detention Center.
Police chief Gerald Butler said, “Incidents like this are unsettling,” after officers secured the scene and arrested the suspect. No one was injured, but Lake City now has a robbery story few towns can match.
