Seattle’s only homeless RV lot, home to 27 vehicles and 11 tiny homes, will become a 20-court pickleball complex by 2025’s end, as Interbay’s last haven for RV dwellers gives way to paddles and parking stalls—a civic switch that’s left residents blinking in disbelief.

A five-year Interbay lease for the Low Income Housing Institute’s encampment was cut short to make room for 20–22 new pickleball courts, bathrooms, and community space. Nearby businesses cheered, but the city’s unhoused lost their last legal place. One advocate called it “a surreal Seattle shuffle.”

The new pickleball complex will feature up to 22 courts stacked in three stories—Seattle’s first vertical paddle palace built atop a former homeless encampment.
