The UK Ministry of Defence has released files linked to a 1980 UFO encounter in Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, involving United States Air Force personnel stationed at RAF Woodbridge.
Sergeant James W Penniston says he touched a mysterious craft on December 26 and 28, 1980. He claims a digital code was implanted in his mind and only made public decades later.
Penniston says the message included binary style text and coordinates. One line reads, "Exploration of Humanity 666 8100." Online users say the numbers point to ancient locations, though interpretations vary.
Another witness, USAF security policeman John Burroughs, reported seeing a glowing object with green, red and white lights. "It’s been a crazy 40 years," he said, describing a bright flash and rapid ascent.
The incident triggered a formal memo from RAF Woodbridge deputy commander Lt Col Charles Halt. Former defence official Simon Weeden said checks found no radar contact and "no defence significance."
Journalist and academic Dr David Clarke, who obtained the files, says key moments remain unexplained. Four decades on, Britain’s most famous UFO still refuses to fully land.
